The concept of metanoia originates from the ancient Greek tradition and signifies a profound change in one's way of thinking, a reorientation of consciousness, and an inner transformation.
In contemporary humanities discourse, metanoia is understood not as a single act but as a continuous process of self-discovery — or rather, a reconsideration of personal experience and a rethinking of one’s relationship with the surrounding world. It is a constant state of transition from destruction toward perception and the emergence of something new.
The exhibition METANOIA proposes viewing art precisely as the spatial dimension in which this transition takes place.
The works on display do not present completed images as definitive conclusions; instead, they reveal the course of an internal transformation — a movement between memory and experience, matter and sensation, the personal and the collective.
Olesia Rybchenko’s practice focuses on the cultural and psychological layers of memory. It develops through the accumulation of gestures, rhythms, and chromatic structures as traces of lived experience.
The artist’s works remain in a constant state of evolution, where the image is never fixed; rather, they visualize its emergence. In this context, painting reinterprets reality rather than represents it. Fragmentation, layering, and repetition become ways of recognizing inner change and seeking new wholeness after loss or metamorphosis, establishing a participatory dialogue with the viewer as a form of necessary rituality.
In Yurii Voitovych’s work, metanoia manifests itself through material and sculptural form. The artist’s ceramic objects combine archetypal motifs with an individual artistic gesture, existing in the space between cultural memory and personal experience. In his works, the material not only acquires form but also preserves traces of time and direct contact with the environment. In this way, ceramics become a medium for slow contemplation and reflection.
In a broader sense, the exhibition addresses questions that are especially relevant today: how do we experience change, and how do we work with memory?
METANOIA does not offer a ready-made narrative; rather, it reflects a personal moment of feeling, where the process matters more than the result, and where continuous dialogue becomes essential.
In this sense, it becomes not only the theme of the exhibition but also a mode of interaction — and an opportunity to see oneself.
