Volodymyr Odrekhivskyi

Volodymyr Odrekhivskyi

Born in Lviv into the family of sculptor Vasyl Odrekhivskyi, he graduated from the Lviv Academy of Arts and pursued postgraduate studies at the Mukhina Leningrad Higher Art and Industrial School.


He obtained a Ph.D. in Art History at the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture of the USSR Academy of Arts in 1985. Volodymyr also completed an internship at the Higher National School of Fine Arts in Paris in 1992.


 Among his notable public works are:



  • Monument to Ivan Franko "Kamenyari" in Stryi (1986, with his father)

  • Artistic memorial plaques to poets Bohdan-Ihor Antonych in Bortyatyno, Lviv region (1989)

  • Memorial plaques to composers Stanislav Liudkevych and Vasyl Barvinskyi in Lviv (1991)

  • Monument "Awakeners" (T. Shevchenko, I. Franko, Lesya Ukrainka) in Stryi, Lviv region

  • Monument "Ukrainian Song" dedicated to Taras Shevchenko in Novyi Rozdil, Lviv region (1995 and 1997, with his father)

  • Monument to Taras Shevchenko in Sevastopol, Crimea (2003, with his son)

  • Sculpture "Bright Hope" at Groupe Environnement S.A. in Poissy, France

  • Memorial composition "Greeting Life" dedicated to Bohdan-Ihor Antonych in Lviv (2018)

  • Memorial to art critic Volodymyr Ovsiichuk at Lychakiv Cemetery, Lviv (2018)

  • Commemorative sign "Poet and Bird" dedicated to Ivan Franko in Lovran, Croatia (2022, with his son).


In 2005, he was awarded the T. Trush Regional Prize. In 2009, he was honored with the title of "People’s Artist of Ukraine."
