'Sense/Sensuality' is a project that immerses you in the world of subtle and delicate sensations through the prism of Yevhen Shapovalov's work. Although the leading image in his works continues to be the female figure, the artist shifts his focus to a deeper disclosure of sensuality as a universal experience.
Sensuality in Shapovalov's art is a means of expressing the emotional richness and complexity of the human soul. His works convey not only the beauty and grace of the female body, but also delve into the subtle nuances of experiences, feelings and moods. Sensuality becomes the very connection between the viewer and the canvas, allowing everyone to find their own reflection in art.
Sensual art has always occupied a special place in the world history of art. In particular, the French artist of the 18th century François Boucher became known for his delicate and sensual depictions of women. In his works, the Italian master Titian reproduced not only the physical beauty but also the emotional state of his heroines. Auguste Rodin, a prominent sculptor of the nineteenth century, created works in which sensuality was expressed through the dynamics and plasticity of forms.
So why do male artists so often turn to the theme of sensuality, despite the peculiar patriarchal requirements? Art has always been a space where you are allowed to be yourself and express your deepest feelings. For male artists, this is a way to overcome social stereotypes and restrictions, to open up their sensitive side, showing that male sensuality is no less important and deep than female sensuality. Artists, in particular, have always had a little more freedom in expressing their emotions and feelings, which allows them to create multifaceted and emotionally rich works.
The exhibition Sense/Sensuality invites the viewer to plunge into the world of emotional experiences and discover new facets of sensuality through the works of Evgeniy Shapovalov. His works are a mirror in which everyone can see their own feelings and find a response.
