From July 3 to July 20, the White World Center for Contemporary Art will host Sasha Luneva's exhibition From the Ceiling. The exhibition will feature bright naïve paintings with surrealistic scenes on the verge of reality and dreams.
Sasha Luneva is a prominent and gifted young artist, and at the same time an important part of the White World team. The images that she will show at the exhibition "From the Ceiling" are taken naturally from the ceiling - because Sasha's bedroom ceiling is covered with liquid wallpaper, which, like her grandmother's carpet on amphetamine, shows her strange creatures and impossible scenes. The artist transferred these messages from the edge of wakefulness and sleep to the canvases; and maybe she will transfer them to the object, if she has time, because this announcement is written only a week before the opening. Now that we have finally destroyed the fourth wall in the press release, the question arises: what will the ceiling be supported on? Apparently, on the curator of Sasha's exhibition, Jeremy Dirac, who helped her develop the ceiling plots and wrote a poetic curatorial commentary on everything she created:
"This is a study of the space on the edge of thought. These are the thoughts that are related to dreams. Strange creatures that emerge from an unknown source in the mind. Sometimes they appear already dressed and ready to party. Other times, they appear as fragments of forms; only the parts that matter..."
Previously, when creating exhibitions, Sasha Luneva took the opposite approach – at the beginning there was a word (the most fundamental approach), then ideas and stories, and then images. But this time, the flirting patterns on the ceiling inspired an opposite and completely original approach for the artist; therefore, the compositions in the works from the exhibition "From the Ceiling" promise to be even more paradoxical and eccentric than we are used to seeing from Sasha Luneva. And her signature style – naive, bright and sincere – will contribute to this effect in the most wonderful way and will undoubtedly cause intense impressions among the viewers.
