Growth is a joint title for the exhibition of two artists. Anna Zhyvotovska from Lviv and Maryna Handysh from Kyiv.
The idea to combine the two artists belongs to Olesia Domaradzka, curator of the Green Sofa Gallery.
The cycle of works by Hanna Zhyvotovska "Growth" is an expanded series of paintings in the hot batik technique.

The cycle was created mainly during the coronavirus epidemic and was partially exhibited at the exhibition "The House in which..." at the P. H. Tychyna Museum-Apartment in Kyiv in 2020.
The overarching theme of these works is the interplay of change and limitation.
"Growth" is an impetus to continuously improve oneself and limit one's own doubts.
"Growth" is about the value of image selection and the richness of layering forms with the help of the complex and painstaking hot batik technology.

The exhibition will feature about 25 works by Hanna Zhyvotovska created in 2017-2024.
Maryna Handysh will present a series of ceramic sculptures from the project IN VITRO, created in 2024 with the support of the UCF. This series will be presented for the first time at this exhibition.

"IN VITRO" is an experimental project that explores the change in the form, structure, and perception of ceramic sculpture under the influence of moisture and organic matter.
It is exhibited as an installation of ceramic female figures that are partially immersed in glass flasks with water and overgrown with moss.

The theme of womanhood was chosen because the author was interested in exploring the change in her own sensuality under the influence of the contemporary environment along with the external change of the sculpture. This image was first created during the artist's transition from girlhood to womanhood, and was associated with the study of her own sexuality.
Now there is a need to revisit this image, which therapeutically can restore the sense of inner sensuality and security that was lost after the stress of the war experience.
The exhibition will feature about 12 "mermaids" - ceramic sculptures by Maryna Handysh.
The exhibition will open on April 29 at 18.00.
