Borys Lekar is an artist and architect whose life and творчість have unfolded between two cities — Kyiv and Jerusalem — cities that have shaped his love, worldview, and inspiration. At the core of his art lies the inseparability of the material and the spiritual.
Myron Petrovskyi wrote: "For the artist, the whole world, while preserving its unity, is clearly divided into material objects and the spirituality enclosed within them. It is precisely this hidden yet very real unity of the material and spiritual worlds that becomes the central theme of the artist’s painting".
A native of Kyiv to the deepest depths of his soul, he embodies his love in paintings and watercolors that seem to be made of light and air. Lekar’s distinctive vision reveals objects filled with human energy that radiate into space. From his portraits, figures reminiscent of ancient icons gaze out, breaking through darkness and illuminating the surrounding space. The invisible becomes visible, even though by its nature it cannot be seen.
In 1990, Borys Lekar emigrated to Israel. This land, where every step is a dialogue with eternity, inspired the artist to create new projects. The landscapes of the Dead Sea and eternal Jerusalem became dominant themes in his work. Artists, musicians, and poets gathered around him — the exhibitions and events he organized became significant cultural milestones.
Kyiv – Jerusalem are two poles between which the world of Borys Lekar unfolds. Two cities that coexist, uniting the spiritual and the material worlds.
