At her first solo exhibition, Lviv-based artist Marta Malynovska will present tapestries created at the intersection of the Ukrainian tradition of hand weaving, her geometric abstraction, and the visual explorations of op art. For Marta, these images serve as an inner exploration of the perception of the world, where chaos gradually transforms into harmony.

Malynovska works in the technique of hand weaving with wool. Wool preserves the archetype of weaving and the sacredness of the past, while at the same time актуalizing the ecological sensitivity of the present. The tactility of the artist’s handmade works and their natural texture give the viewer a sense of bodily presence, of material as the energy of nature and manual labor.

This artistic practice allows Marta Malynovska to represent this rare craft medium at leading contemporary exhibitions, including: "Trullo 227" (Apulia, Italy), "Cosmogony of Meanings" (Lutsk, Ukraine), "Scythia" (Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine), as well as numerous specialized projects such as the All-Ukrainian Textile Triennial (Kyiv, 2014, 2016, 2021), Textilism (Lviv, 2011–2017), and Textile Miniature (Lviv, 2012–2017).
The series "Simple Forms", comprising more than ten tapestries created between 2011 and 2025, will be presented at the Zelena Kanapa Gallery from February 3 to March 1, 2026.
The exhibition opening is scheduled for February 3 at 6:00 PM.
