Oleh Putrashyk

Oleh’s artistic language unfolds as a dense and introspective form of constructivism — less a style than a personal system for interpreting reality and the forces within it. His works feel instinctive, taking shape as complex, multidimensional objects infused with an intricate web of thought and perception.

When he turns toward solid volumes, moving away from airy, open structures, his sculptures gain a sense of unity and weight. Their flowing contours are interrupted only by deliberate, finely balanced incisions — subtle marks that signal the artist’s presence. Through these gestures, Oleh conveys ideas that remain largely internal, accessible first and foremost to himself. Yet, by engaging with the material so directly, he invites viewers to encounter the world as he has sensed it — through touch, form, and physical interaction.

Oleh Putrashyk is a metal sculptor and co-founder of the creative workshop SZPOR (ШПОР), which was actively based in Perechyn for many years. Since late 2024, he has been serving in the 1st Battalion of the 101st Independent Territorial Defense Brigade. With no practical opportunity to continue sculptural work under field conditions, he has shifted his focus to drawing and graphic expression.

Reflecting on this transition, the artist notes:

"In the army, without access to sculpture, I turned to graphics. It marked the beginning of a completely new phase in both my life and practice. Art has become a way to endure and preserve inner stability during this challenging time. Whenever I manage to return to the creative process, it restores the strength I need to move forward".
