The combination of painting and metal gives rise to art objects that go beyond the scope of an ordinary work of art. They turn the palette and texture into a living dialogue with the sun and the forces tempered in the fire of real battles.

The sunflower has long been a faithful symbol of the sun, warmth and vitality in Ukrainian culture. The shell casings collected from the battlefield are sunflower seeds that have grown from the depths of the earth, even where it has already been mutilated. These "seeds" are generously sown on the Ukrainian land today. The metal that once carried the fire of martial passions now grows into reliable trunks of life, as evidence that even in the midst of war, a flower of hope can bloom, its power indestructible.

Sunflowers by Myron Kataran is a story about Ukraine, wounded in the heart, but not overcome. It is a deep inner dialogue between history and the future, between memory and hope. But beyond the obvious symbols, the philosophy of these paintings encourages the viewer to reflect on the meaning of loss, struggle and hope. The contradictory unity of fire and life, destruction and birth, war and hope - all of this merges in the symbolism of each work.
