Each ambrotype photograph by Sergey Poznansky is a true work of art, made by hand using forgotten 19th-century techniques. The images on glass create the impression of a journey through time, when models stood motionless for long periods in front of a huge antique camera. The shooting process becomes a ritual, allowing the camera lens to scrutinize the souls of those who dared to stand before it.
Each image combines modernity and history, allowing them to transcend time. Specific images are replaced with symbols and allegories, creating a rich otherworldly realm. Magic and enchantment are present in each work, which are filled with symbols from different eras and references to known works by old masters.
