Dmitry Dobryanskiy

Dmitry Dobryanskiy (b. 1992) is a painter who lives and works in Kamianets-Podilskyi, western Ukraine. He studied Conservation and Restoration of Art in the Kamianets- Podilsky Ivan Ohienko National University and then continued his practice in the studios of local artists. Throughout his career Dmitry has been experimenting with different art styles and techniques and since 2020 he has been actively working on the series “Green can be different” and “Naked in front of the Nature”. A turning point for his work was meeting with contemporary Ukranian artists Taras Tabaka, Vasyl Kadar, Vladimir Ulyanov and Ruslan Tremba. Their combination of contemporaneity and traditions opened the door to experimentation and different usage of colors and textures. In 2020, together with this group, Dmitry participated in the exhibition Anticipation+Immunity 2020 at the Korsak’s Museum of Ukrainian Modern Art in Lutsk. Through his paintings on canvas, Dmitry confronts his perception of nature and the society, balancing abstraction and figurative art. Most of his works are the result of the spontaneous acts, where the intuition and a chance are the main driving forces. Dmitry is creating his paintings in a historical part of the city, working in the old artistic studio full of history and inspiration. His works can be found in private collections in Ukraine.
