Halyna Stelmashchuk Doctor of Arts, Professor, full member of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, multiple scholarship holder of the Lviv Regional State Administration, Laureate of the St. Hordynskyi Prize of the Lviv Regional State Administration. Hordynskyi of the Lviv Regional State Administration, laureate of the Presidential Award "Book of the Year "Ukrainian Folk Headdresses" in the nomination "For a significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian studies" in 2016, awarded with the badges "Excellence in Education", "For Scientific Achievements", "Petra Mohyla", "Gold Medal" of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, "Order of Princess Olga of the III degree", medal "Golden Fortune. Tribute to Ukrainian Scientists (1918-2019)", "Order of Arts of Ukraine" 2023.

 

2003 - 2024. Head of the Department of History and Theory of Art, a well-known Ukrainian scientist in the field of history and theory of decorative and fine arts, ethnology, made a significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian art history and ethnology. She has published monographs, textbooks, and chapters in collective scientific publications of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (over 400 publications in total). His published scientific works are characterised by a high level of scientific generalisations, solid theoretical positions that laid the methodological foundations of modern Ukrainian science. G. Stelmashchuk's scientific achievements are known abroad. Her works have been published in journals in the USA, Poland, Canada, Russia, and Belarus. Halyna Stelmashchuk's work has received about 40 favourable reviews in Ukraine and abroad (Ukraine, USA, Canada, Poland), and she has been mentioned in several books.

 

Halyna Stelmashchuk was (from 1995 until her appointment as the Head of the Specialised Council in 2013) a member of two Specialised Academic Councils for the defence of PhD and doctoral dissertations at the Lviv National Academy of Arts and the Rylsky Institute of History and Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv).

 

Long-term member of the expert council of the Higher Attestation Commission, later, the State Academic Commission in the speciality of art history, 2013 - 2022) Chairman of the only Specialised Doctoral Academic Council in Ukraine D.35. 103. 01 at the Lviv National Academy of Arts in the specialities 17.00.05 - Fine Arts and 17.00.06 - Decorative and Applied Arts.

 

Among her students are well-known artists, participants in many exhibitions, researchers, teachers, and art historians. As the Head of the Department and the Head of the Specialised Academic Council, she pays great attention to the training of highly qualified personnel, and under her supervision 20 dissertations were defended.

 

She pays considerable attention to the study of artists of the Ukrainian diaspora, participates in writing individual articles for the Encyclopedia of Modern Ukraine. Professor Stelmashchuk's works are kept in many university libraries and by private individuals abroad: (USA, Japan, Great Britain, France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Australia, Russia, China).
