Alla Kasian

Kasyan Alla Oleksiivna was born in a distant small village Katashyn of Starokryvets rural settlement of Novozibkivsky district of Bryansk region (Russia) on June 22, 1970. A little later, when her parents, railway workers by profession, settled near the "Junction" (the name of a small railway stop in the heart of the Bryansk forests). Where the nearest neighbor is six kilometers away, and there is a forest around. From early childhood, little Alla grew up among the beauty of nature and wildlife. Walking in the forest, she could meet a real elk, listen to the chirping of birds. Around - fir trees, birches and hazel. The girl liked this forest world filled with life.

When Alla was seven years old, her parents moved to a small town of Klintsy. The girl had to go to the first grade. Alla missed the forest air in the city. It seems to fill you to the brim, and you become as light as a feather. It seems that in a moment you will fly...

Since school years Alla liked to make different crafts, papier-mache, painted and she liked this wonderful world.

But life does not stand still. Parents move again, this time to Kremenchuk, Poltava region. Kremenchuk is a beautiful city on the Dnipro river. New impressions, new school and friends. So that the girl did not get bored during the summer holidays in the stuffiness of the city apartment, Alla was sent for the whole summer to the picturesque village of Hremyach, Chernihiv region, where her grandmother lived. There, on the banks of the Desna and Sudosti rivers, new horizons for creativity were opened.

The girl painted rural landscapes, animals. One summer she had to nurse a little eiderdown that fell from the nest. The eider grew up and became Alla's friend for the whole summer. But everything passes, and the summer holidays came to an end. Ahead - school ... Later, after graduating from school, Alla decided to join the dynasty of railway workers and entered the Kremenchuk College of Railway Transport. She did not choose a creative profession, because at that time there was no opportunity to do what she wanted. Because the family was in hard times. She had to help her mother, who was left alone with two children. Needlework and drawing faded into the background. Thus, many pages of the future master's life passed. Work, domestic problems, birth of her son Hennadii, unsuccessful marriage and divorce. Seven years she had to take care of her sick mother, seven years of buried female happiness and loneliness.

In 2013, by chance, Alla saw a photo of her husband on the Internet. Holding a palette knife in his hands, he was concentrating on drawing a summer sketch. The hands of this man were magical - it was impossible to take your eyes off...

Thus began the acquaintance with the artist from Konotop Borys Serdiuk. And the love of her life. In February 2014, Alla and Boris got married. Not only a new family was born, but also a creative tandem. Boris opened another space for his wife, as if he gave her a new life. Looking at how her husband works, Alla did not notice how she herself became a part of art. Her husband's art exhibitions, joint cooking, meetings with artists, craftsmen encouraged Alla to get to work.

Three years in a row (since 2018) at a fairly mature age, Alla decided to take up needlework. Patchwork or kinusaiga is the name of the technique in which Alla Oleksiivna works. Kinusaiga art is often called "patchwork without a needle". The technology is based on application. Scraps of fabric are applied to the foam in pre-made cuts.

Kinusaiga comes from Japan. This technique was created by Japanese Setsu Mazno in 1987.

As the master herself says: "I am not a public person and do not like to talk about myself, especially to exhibit my works somewhere. I just create my paintings on foam for my soul. But sometimes, when the work seems successful, I want to show it to someone." Once, in Kremenchuk art gallery there was an exhibition "I am an artist!", Alla Oleksiivna took her painting "Still Life with sunflowers".

The visitors of the exhibition liked the amazing colours, interesting technique. The collection of the master includes about three dozen works. Some works Alla Oleksiievna gives as gifts, some have already been sold and decorate the interiors of houses of residents of Ukraine and abroad. The paintings mainly depict beautiful rural Ukrainian landscapes from her childhood, still lifes of flowers, vegetables, fruits and leaves. Everything that I once dreamed of, I wanted to reproduce in my work. Dreams come true. Nostalgia comes from childhood.

Since 2022. Alla has created her own unique technique, which the master is now improving. Unique paintings are created on cardboard or chipboard from small colorful pieces of fabric with glue. Basically, these are Ukrainian landscapes and still lifes. As the master says, it is necessary to have a lot of Ukrainian and that the works of Ukrainian artists are known not only in Ukraine but also abroad.
