All my works are deeply thought-out, have a solid intellectual base and are supported by a principled social and moral concept. In this way, I express my own position regarding the bloody events on the territory of Ukraine and encourage the viewer to think.
Myron Kataran was born in 1984 in the village of Lysyatichi, Lviv Region.
Education: Kosiv College of Decorative and Applied Arts (2002), Lviv National Academy of Arts (2010).
Participant of numerous exhibitions in Ukraine and abroad, including "Authenticity and Time" (2003, Kyiv), KONFRONTAJE (2005, Poland), Architecture of Galicia (2006, Poland), MA SKY (2010, Lviv), SACRIFICIUM Germany, 2022 ), International Pottery Plein Air (2008, Kosiv) and others.
The artist's works are kept in private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
Myron Kataran lives and works in Lviv.
When you ask an artist what art means to him, you get different answers: from the banal "my art is like peanuts for breakfast" to deeply transcendent maxims like "this is my existence, the reincarnation of my soul, my being." In order to be and remain trendy in art today, you must first of all remain yourself, you must find a golden mean in yourself and with your creations, or even better, harmony. In words it is simple, but in practice it is hellish daily work and continuous attempts at creative understandings. Myron Kataran is an artist for whom art is a lifestyle, it is air that expands the lungs, it is water that quenches thirst. He is a recluse artist who works meditatively for days, weeks, months, "immortalizing" time with a brush
He is not only a monumental artist. Myron is an unsurpassed graphic designer and ceramicist-experimenter. He works in various genres: he feels the fibers of the features of the human face, knows how to capture the nature of the portrait subject through body gestures, practices semantic landscapes and hot abstractions. He does not "paint on a shelf", but participates in various exhibition projects, exhibits and sells at auctions, loves the London gallery "Saatchi".
THIS ARTIST LITERALLY AND FIREFORTUNATELY LOVES ROCKED TERRAIN. HE DOESN'T LOOK FOR EASY PATHS TO RECOGNITION, BUT HE WANTS TO TRAVEL THROUGH THE SPIRITS OF ART: IT IS NOT EASY TO MOVE ACROSS THEM, BUT WHAT HORIZONS ARE OUTLINED FROM THEIR PERSPECTIVES! THE SUBJECTS OF MYRON KATARAN'S CREATIVITY ARE DEEPLY CONSIDERED AND NEVER RANDOM. HE LIKES TO PLAY WITH ART APPRECIATORS, AS THE PEOPLE SAY, "TO PLAY EMOTIONALLY ON YOUR NERVES."
He does not create art for the sake of art, he raises acute social problems with art and in art in order to shake up a "sleepy" and indifferent society. He created colossal monumental series of works: "Butterfly - Carnal Holiness and Debauchery", "Sheep in Wolf's Skin" - a series about political prostitution, "Children of the Sun", "Politicians of the World and Ukraine", "War" - prosthetic children.
I would like to note two painting series that are completely different from each other - "Sacrifice" and "Whirlwind of Temptation". One worldly, the other sacred. One portrays the most recognizable saints of the Catholic Church, the other turns the human soul inside out at the peak of the most hellish hedonistic desires. The "Sacrifice" project shows through the faces of thorns Padre Pio, Mother Teresa, Charbel, Pope Ivan Pavlall - saints who have long gone beyond their national contexts and unite believers and atheists all over the world by their example. The "Whirlwind of Temptation" project will debut in Ukraine already this spring, although the works of this series are successfully sold at British auctions, because they are not just works of painting, they are a "painting lens" in which hundreds of emotional features of characters and feelings are focused, where everyone can find and recognize yourself and your callings.

PERSONALITIES ART EXHIBITION BY MYRON KATARAN. 2014
Lviv’s “Green Sofa” art gallery hosted an exhibition of paintings by Myron Kataran entitled “Personalities” from March 4-16. The exhibition featured portraits of world renowned musicians, artists, and celebrities such as: Paul McCartney, Elvis Presley, Edith Piaf, and Bjork, among others. Each portrait was drawn in pencil and showcased not only the similarity of the portraits, but also the deep emotional and charismatic essence of each world famous star. Myron Kataran, a graduate of the Kosiv Art College, plans to continue his work on the “Personalities” project and wants to add new portraits to the existing display.
ART PROJECT "TIME MECHANISM". 2011
In the spring of 2011, the young Lviv artist Myron Kataran presented his first art project "Time Mechanism" in the Kyiv Art Republik gallery.
The main idea of this artistic project is the phenomenon of temporal metamorphoses that occur with a person, and the aesthetic side of these transformations. Achromatic colors and a minimum number of small details reflect the desire to express the main - deep essence of the object. The graphic images of the artist contain an element of hyperbolization and look somewhat grotesque. According to the author himself, this method allows to better reveal the inner essence of the characters he portrays, so he deliberately deforms their faces.
The series of works "Time Mechanism" consists of images of people of different ages. These are children, young people, men and women in summer. Thus, the author unfolds before the viewer all the age stages that a person goes through. The artist emphasizes the passage of time and explores a peculiar time mechanism in the cycle of human life.
In this way, the artist shows that aesthetics is preserved at any age. Even if the appearance changes, it can remain no less attractive than in youth. Wrinkles indicate the path that has been traveled, and this has its own dignity. Nature is perfect, and no one can surpass it.

Kataran Myron is still a very young artist. And although he has already established himself as an excellent graphic artist, painter and ceramist, he has excellent criteria in his approach to creativity, inherent in his age and time - courage in choosing compositional schemes, youthful maximalism in choosing topics, often inspired by fashionable, rapidly changing currents of the world, characteristic for the modern world art market. M. Kataran studied at the Kosiv Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts and at the Lviv Academy of Arts at the Department of Ceramics, which he successfully graduated in 2010. From the words of the artist, we learn that the connection of the artist with his homeland, traditions and folk art has a significant influence on his work , as well as the people around us. His teachers: H. Urbanska, A. Kanych, I. Perepa, as well as the famous artist Lyubomyr Medvid had a significant influence on M. Kataran's work. According to the artist, L. Medvid's works are close to him in terms of creative nature. But in contrast to M. Shimchuk and V. Sydorenko, music has a significant influence on the artist and is a source of inspiration for him, which becomes, as it were, the driver of his creativity. Now, for example, he is inspired by the new projects of the music group "DEADCAMDANCE" (the dead are dancing). Not so long ago, the people of Lviv had the opportunity to get to know the works of M. Kataran more closely at the "ideas" museum, where his personal exhibition was held in Poland, Germany and Ukraine, as well as at symposiums on ceramics. An artist, he is not afraid to experiment with different combinations of materials and with volume and plane. Almost all of the artist's works are untitled, but thereby he calls us to active thinking, deeper knowledge of form and content, independent perception of the work. The artist seems to be looking for his inner "I" in his works, and strives to reach the "I" of the viewer. Having conducted such a short blitz research, we came to the conclusion that despite the different ages of our artists, who are independent of different generations, they have a close connection with folk art on a conscious or subconscious level. This is especially true of artists who are engaged in decorative and applied arts, which in their work is interpreted differently by everyone with an individual creative vision and modern reinterpretation. Also, the environment in which he is formed and lives, the personalities who surround him, have a significant influence on the artist. All these artists are inspired by the nature of their native land, as well as the changes taking place in the country and the world. All the artists we talked about try to use their works to convey to the viewer what is most dear to them, and at the same time avoid anti-aesthetics and the destruction of the viewer's consciousness, and with their art claim that the world is beautiful and beautiful people who care not only about themselves, but about harmony of man and the world.

The first stage of photography for the project "EXHUMATION"
Currently, Miron Kataran is working on a series of digital paintings "EXHUMATION". The central idea behind the Exhumation series of paintings is a complex interpretation of the laws of wild nature and their transfer to human society in the conditions of war.
The dead bodies frozen in different poses are like the cry of innocent victims. The hands tied behind the back are a sign of restriction of freedom and helplessness in the face of violence. The same immense canvas on all of them is a symbol of the mass grave in which they were buried.
The entire background is marked with animal prints as a reminder of the eternal law of survival - the strong dominate the weak. However, when we transfer this concept to the human level, we enter into a dynamic of higher resilience. Someone who was considered smaller and more vulnerable suddenly surprises us with the power of will and determination. And their seeming loneliness turns into the complicity of the strong, who stand up for the principles of morality and justice. And there is always an even more powerful response to any force.
