Viktor Prodanchuk

I and my code of eternity are in me, and I embody it in my thoughts, metal, clay, wood, glass, on canvas and paper in these iron strokes of stone plastics, which have a sense of antiquity. All this passes through me and my soul, and I feel a constant genetic connection of my ancient family that does not allow me to forget these messages, signs and codes of the ancient plastic of our ancestors. Since early childhood I have felt a connection with the past. It is my duty to maintain this connection throughout my life, to draw parallels and sew our ancient civilizations with the present with creative threads. God forbid that we forget who we are, where we came from and where we are going in the present moment of our lives. Today we are descendants and carriers of these ancient cultures. And the main thing here is not to lose ourselves and our essence, our purpose in the fleeting present and pass it on to the next generations. After all, we all know and remember: ARS LONGA, VITA BREVIS...

Prodanchuk Viktor Pavlovych was born on February 4, 1975, in the small town of Dunayivtsi in the Khmelnytskyi region to a schoolteacher and a nurse. As a child, Victor often visited the Cossack Valley where his maternal grandmother Rafaila Voitkivna lived and told him about the fierce Cossack battles of the Khmelnytsky period that took place in the Cossack Valley. This influenced the further formation of his national consciousness.

Pavlo Prodanchuk's father came from an old family of Cossack centurions, and another ancestor participated in the Cyril and Methodius Society. As a school teacher of drawing and history, his father instilled in Viktor a love of art and Ukraine, which influenced his future destiny.

In 1990, he entered the Kosiv College of Decorative and Applied Arts, majoring in metalworking. The most memorable things from his studies in Ivano-Frankivsk region are singing patriotic songs in the evenings, talking about history and Ukrainian culture. During one of his excursions to the capital of Halychyna, the city of Lviv impressed Viktor so much that he decided to spend the rest of his life in the capital of Western Ukraine.

In 1995, he entered the Lviv Academy of Arts and received a degree in woodworking. While studying at the Academy of Arts, he participated in the restoration of the Assumption Cathedral, St. Michael's Golden-Domed Cathedral, the Kyiv Cave Monastery Cathedral, and the church in Podil where Taras Shevchenko was buried.

In 2000, for the Assumption Church in Lviv of the Stavropegian Brotherhood, he made a diploma work "Crucifixion of Jesus Christ with the Coming Ones", which is now located in the Three Saints Chapel of the church.

From 1998 to 2004 he worked at the Ukrainian Restoration of Historical Monuments of Ukraine.

In 2005, together with his partner, he created the "Modern Smithy" at the I. Levynskyi factory.

In 2014, he became one of the founders of the company "Oberig Group", which is engaged in the restoration of buildings in the historical part of Lviv.

Since 2004, he has been working creatively: sculpture, graphics, experimenting with various techniques and materials (bronze, glass, fireclay, wood, iron, electroplating, brass, copper and stone). In his works, he uses the spirit of ancient cultures of Ukraine: Trypillia, Scythians, Sarmatians, Cimmerians of the princely era, and Hutsuls.

In 2017, the 1st book of works by the famous Ukrainian artist with the same title "Viktor Prodanchuk" was published.

In 2019, the 2nd book of works by the famous Ukrainian artist with the same title "Viktor Prodanchuk" was published.

In 2021, the 3rd book of works by the famous Ukrainian artist with the same title "Viktor Prodanchuk" was published.

The works are kept in the Sheptytsky National Museum in Lviv, the Odesa Museum of Western and Eastern Art, the Dnipro Art Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Khmelnytskyi, in private collections of Yushchenko, Feldman, Filatov, Kravetskyi, as well as in Ukraine and abroad, in particular in the USA, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, England, Turkey, Spain. A documentary film was made about Victor Prodanchuk's artistic activity.
