Mykola Zhuravel

Mykola Zhuravel breaks the boundaries between painting, sculpture, performance and installation. He turns to nature, creating flourishing monuments to the human connection to the Earth. Zhuravel seeks harmony between the Earth and humanity, pointing out the obstacles humans place on the path to this existence. Zhuravlev's ambitious style is manifested in a striking series of vivid images of a fantasy utopia. Using levkas, a traditional primer used by icon painters, he combines the heritage of Byzantine iconography with modern painting techniques. The result is bright and inventive contemporary works that are becoming new icons.
