The outlines of the bow and the bowstring are clearly visible in the painting. The bow symbolizes the fortress of the soul, and the arrows the energy. If Sagittarius owns the bow, the bow owns the heddle, into which the arrow is inserted. The tighter the bodkin, the farther the arrow will fly. In other words, the more questions you ask, and the more sincerely you appeal to the Creator as the only power capable of giving an answer, the more you will know.
The culture of Joseph represents ancient Egypt. Joseph himself is represented as an anthropomorphic figure embedded in a spiral bow. Above is a multitude of human silhouettes bowed in worship before him - the ruler and legislator of the Egyptians with unquestionable authority, Joseph is worthy.
Even higher, two seated figures - either sphinxes or twin guardians of a certain temple with a cobra - symbolise the processes taking place in antiquity. Egypt is sometimes referred to as the steel furnace of the Jewish people. By enduring tribulations and oppressions, it was tempered.
